Garnet has been out of the hospital for a little over a week, and we had Dr. Fertig come out to determine what our next steps should be. She said that Garnet's wounds look great, and to continue to clean them up as we have been doing. She said that Garnet can have treats now, too, so that has made Garnet a MUCH happier horse! Garnet’s Surgery: Days Two through Four

Garnet’s Surgery- Day One
Today we drove Garnet up to the hospital in preparation for her surgery Friday morning. It was thankfully much cooler than it has been over the past few days, which made the trip nicer for her. Garnet was not interested in getting into the trailer, but we had a short discussion and she walked right in after a few minutes. UPDATE: Garnet Needs Life-Saving Surgery
Garnet was rescued in August (just last month) and came to Hanaeleh with the diagnosis of COPD. Her owner was unfortunately moving out of state, and the vet felt that a long trip would be too stressful for her current lung condition. Although her owner had her on steroids, when Garnet came to Hanaeleh, we had the vet out to see whether there was anything else we could do for her.
