Lisa Ray is a 10 year-old bay Appendix (Quarter horse and Thoroughbred cross) who needs a home. Her owner passed away in a tragic accident and her young daughter is not in the position to care for her. She is located in Orange Park Acres, in Orange County, CA. Sweet Pea
We are devastated to have to share the very sad news that Sweet Pea colicced this week. Although she seemed fine the night before and ate her dinner and grain, the next morning when Javier (our caretaker) went to feed her, he found her laying down and refused to get up to eat. Javier urgently called us to let us know something was wrong. We rushed down to see her, and immediately called the vet. Lou Dillon Gets His Teeth Floated
This past week we had the vet out to float Lou Dillon's teeth. Unlike human teeth, horses' teeth continue to grow throughout their lifetime. In the wild, horses are constantly eating, and that wears them down evenly. Unfortunately, in captive situations, such as keeping horses in stalls or dry paddocks, even though the horses get enough food to keep their weight up (or even get fat!), they don't eat long enough to adequately wear their teeth.
