Introducing Our Newest Herd Member: Flame!

March 19, 2025 By ezarkos

We added a new horse to our Hanaeleh herd this week: Welcome Flame! Flame is an 18 year-old registered Paint horse. Flame has been on our waiting list for several months, and we were finally able to accommodate him at the ranch. Flame's owner had owned him since he was a baby, but unfortunately was no longer able to care for him. Flame had some issues with his hocks, and even though the previous owner had done extensive x-rays, they were unable to determine why Flame was so uncomfortable. … [Read more...]

Ladybug’s Colic Adventure

February 26, 2025 By ezarkos

While the warm winter days might be a dream for those who enjoy the beach in February, the extreme changes in temperature (80 degrees during the day/40 degrees at night) can be detrimental to horses, as these changes can lead to colic. While we do our best to ensure the horses drink enough water and have regular mealtimes and high-quality feed, sometimes colic just happens. Colic is a generalized word for any sort of intestinal discomfort, but with horses it can be fatal. Horses have a … [Read more...]

Abe the Mini-Mule’s Happy Update

February 5, 2025 By ezarkos

We know everyone is interested in how Abe the mini-Mule is doing. He is fitting in very well at his foster home! He is staying at our former board member's house right now, where his best little girlfriend (who was rescued with him) lives.  We went over to see him while the farrier was out to trim his feet. Abe was a little hesitant at first, but he did so well and stood quietly for the farrier. We trimmed him in his stall, and even with the winds he was a very good boy! Abe is getting a … [Read more...]

Hanaeleh strives to focus on putting positive energy out into the world; we concentrate on the good we are doing and what we can do to improve the lives of the horses we save. When we see other groups also putting out positive energy and vibes into the universe, we love supporting their efforts! Who are Siegfried and Joy? A few months ago we started to follow two magicians, Siegfried and Joy (yes, JOY). You might have seen them on their social media channels (@siegfriedandjoy), or you might … [Read more...]
