Hanaeleh is a horse rescue, but we have a myriad of other animals who we have also rescued: chickens, sheep, feral cats, and now, a tortoise! We were told about a tortoise at the Irvine Animal Shelter who needed a home. One of our board members, Charlotte, has a tortoise of her own, and she has extensive knowledge about their care. This Saturday, May 3rd, the 151st Kentucky Derby will take place. Don't watch it. Don't support it. Check Out Our Newly Refurbished Arena and Round Pen!
The Santa Ana winds that tore through our ranch last fall didn’t just destroy several of our shelters—they also blew away nearly all the sand from our arena. After the winter rains, we tried dragging the arena to loosen and soften the remaining dirt for the horses, but our current drag isn’t heavy enough to properly break up and restore the footing.
