Beauty

February 7, 2011 By Hanaeleh

Rescued February 17, 2007 Adopted February 18, 2007 Beauty’s owner came to Hanaeleh because she needed to find a home for her arthritic, 26 year-old horse.  Beauty is a very sweet horse, but her arthritis kept her from being easily adoptable. Hanaeleh contacted Cara, who had taken Mr. Ed, and she was willing to take Beauty for her mother.  Hanaeleh took yet another 10-hour trip up to Petaluma where they dropped off Beauty and said hello to Mr. Ed.  Beauty lives in a pasture with the other … [Read more...]

Jesse

February 7, 2011 By Hanaeleh

Rescued July 11, 2007 Adopted April 26, 2008  Jesse was a Quarter Horse who was purchased at Mike’s Auction by his owner at three years old. The owner was very aggressive with Jesse, and was so abusive that Jesse developed ulcers. Instead of treating these ulcers, the owner left him in his stall, and Jesse would colic regularly.  He finally contacted us when the vet bills were over $8,000 and the vet refused to come out until he was paid.  It took us several months of ulcer medication, but … [Read more...]

Caspian

February 7, 2011 By Hanaeleh

Rescued March 8, 2009 Adopted April 24, 2010 Hanaeleh was contacted by a horse rescue in Hollywood when they needed to find a place for an emaciated Arabian cross who was abandoned in a backyard where the owner left him to starve to death.  We took Caspian in, and soon found that he had been trained to rear on command, but was otherwise a nice boy.  He was a favorite of our volunteers, and even had a mother and daughter who loved him very much.  He quickly found a home in San Diego, … [Read more...]

Turbo

February 7, 2011 By Hanaeleh

Born May 14, 1983 Rescued July 1, 2007 Adopted July 7, 2007 Turbo was one of four horses that Hanaeleh took in when they were told of a woman who had passed away suddenly when her tractor flipped backwards onto her. Turbo was a registered Tennessee Walking Horse stallion who was in his twenties. Hanaeleh contacted several veterinarians, who suggested that they not geld him at his age.  Because Hanaeleh does not have a facility designed for stallions, they were very thankful when a … [Read more...]

Glenda Gets a Brand-New Coop (Thanks to Our Amazing Volunteers!)

August 28, 2025 By ezarkos

Glenda is one of the chickens at our ranch, and she had previously been living in a coop we built when we moved onto the property. The coop was sturdy enough to keep larger predators out, but unfortunately mice and rats were able to find their way inside. We did what we could to try to strengthen … [Read More...]
