Ulysses Eating His Grain

Ulysses

Ulysses is one of our rescues from the Riverside Animal Shelter.  He is a very beautiful horse who suffered an intense amount of abuse at the hands of humans; when we picked him up, he had scars from his head to his tail.  His tendons were so damaged that it looks like they have been bowed multiple times.  There are scars from rope burns on his muzzle and legs.  Then the humans who had done this to him, abandoned him in a riverbed to starve to death. It is with great pleasure that we announce the promotion of our intern, Emily, to Assistant Trainer- Groundwork!  Emily started with Hanaeleh last summer where she served as an intern, coming three to four times a week and working with the horses.  She has continued to help out at Hanaeleh throughout this year while also going to college and working for a veterinarian.  Emily is very patient with the horses, but also does not give up, even when they are a bit naughty.  She is always willing to … [Read more...]
