Two off-track Standardbreds need home - please see description and contact info below (this is a courtesy posting- Hanaeleh does not have these horses!). Auction Horses Rescue was able to save two Off The Track Standardbreds from auction last Saturday night (1/18/14). They are currently in Riverside in foster care until new homes are found.  Both appear sound and are in good flesh/condition, which is unusual in itself for the auction horses I've seen lately! From the FaceBook page for … [Read more...]

Thoroughbred mare needs home- please see info below for more information and contact info: Ruby was rescued from an auction in mid-November via Auction Horses Rescue, a group I volunteer for. Ruby was destined for a feedlot on the CA/Mexico border and whatever comes after that. She's been with me since Nov. 15. She's put on weight, muscle and a nice glossy coat since then! Ruby is a rather plain Jane 16h bay Thoroughbred mare with very few markings. (She shows up as a big dark blob in all … [Read more...]

Orange County, CA: Lexie- older QH mare needs home!

January 20, 2014 By ezarkos

Lexie is a Quarter horse mare we posted in December. She was going to be sent to the auction, and most likely end up with a killer buyer. A person offered to take Lexie for her lesson program, but her vet said that Lexie would not be able to perform the work required for her program.  Lexie was a trained show horse, and did reining and barrel racing in her younger days. Lexie is very sweet and really likes kids. She is on the smaller size (about 14 hands), but can carry about 150 pounds. She … [Read more...]

Quixote-Adoptable Horse Orange County CA

Quixote: Andalusian/Thoroughbred Cross Age: 16 Discipline: Dressage/Flat Work Rider/Handler: Experienced Temperament: Sensitive, somewhat spooky We took Quixote into our facility in August, 2013.  At one time, he was advertised for $15,000 and jumped 3+ feet.  His owners had purchased him from a trainer, but he was much too horse for them, and their daughter lost interest.   The owners quickly became afraid of him, and left him in the stall for longer and longer periods, until he … [Read more...]
