Zebedee is an 8 year-old Welsh-cross pony gelding. He's only 46" (11.2 hands) tall! Hanaeleh rescued Zebedee when he lost his house in the Sylmar fire. His owner rescued him from a low-end auction two years ago. Zebedee had been used by charro riders to practice their roping- when his owner rescued him, he had rope burns across his legs, and he is still shy about ropes coming over his head. Update: Titan (November 2017)
Last August we were contacted by our veterinarian, who asked us to take Titan. Titan had torn suspensories on both hind legs. He had a long rehab ahead of him, but after his rehab, he would be sound and rideable. We did take Titan, and were faced with at least six months and potentially a year of needing to be hand walked for 15-20 minutes everyday. It did take about a year before we were able to ride Titan, and another few months beyond that before we were able to trot him under saddle. … [Read more...]
Update: Austin (November 2017)
Hanaeleh rescued Austin about four months ago. When he came in, his feet looked terrible, he was thin, and he had terrible bacterial infections in his hooves and legs. The good news that he is definitely improving! He has not only started to gain weight, but is beginning to put back on the muscle that he lost by not being exercised regularly for so long.
