We are excited to share that Raven took a field trip last week to visit Canyon High School! Hanaeleh's president, Elizabeth Zarkos, is an English teacher at Canyon, and she wanted to find a way to help introduce horses to the students. Sleepy Raven
This weekend we caught Raven napping for a while on her new shavings. Just like with people, some horses like to nap more than others. Unlike humans, however, horses only need about 45 minutes of REM sleep a night; they can lock their stifle and doze, which is how they get most of the rest they need. Raven naps quite a bit. UPDATE 2022: Raven
Raven is a 16 year-old Friesian mare who came to Hanaeleh a few months ago. She had been given to a trainer as a lesson horse, but unfortunately she isn't trained to ride, and the trainer didn't have time to train her. She wanted to make sure that Raven found a safe home, which is why she came to Hanaeleh. Introducing Raven!
We received a call from one of our supporters in Ojai, CA. She is a trainer and she has adopted a few horses we have networked in the past for her lesson program. She had taken on a 15 year-old Friesian mare who she was told would be a great lesson horse, but it turned out that the mare was not trained, at least not for beginner riders.
