The Kentucky Derby came and went this weekend, with the deaths of seven horses and the indefinite suspension of one trainer (Saffie Joseph, Jr.) at Churchill Downs in one week. How someone can claim to love horses and still participate in this blood sport is unfathomable. We are failing these horses on a number of different levels. Action Needed: Help End the Pony Rides at Griffith Park (Los Angeles)
Hanaeleh was recently made aware of abusive practices that have been taking place at the pony rides at Griffith Park. There are videos of older, arthritic ponies who are clearly in pain being made to carry children around a track. Horse Racing Integrity Act- What it Does, What Changes, What Stays the Same
As of March 23, 2021, 50 horses have died on racetracks across the United States in 2021 alone. That means nearly 15 horses are dying each month, or one dead horse every other day. Recently I read that the FDA has a number of rat feces and spiders that it deems is acceptable to be in my food.
