Garnet’s Surgery- Day One
Today we drove Garnet up to the hospital in preparation for her surgery Friday morning. It was thankfully much cooler than it has been over the past few days, which made the trip nicer for her. Garnet was not interested in getting into the trailer, but we had a short discussion and she walked right in after a few minutes. Thank you to everyone who donated for Garnet's surgery! We reached our goal and have scheduled her surgery for this coming Friday morning 9/24/21. The surgeon said that this was a very common surgery for Thoroughbreds. He also said that her age was perfectly fine, and that most of the surgeries were done around 15-18 years old because it's when this issue becomes an issue. The surgery is called an arytenoidectomy.
