Southern California: 21 y/o OTTB Needs Home

January 30, 2020 By ezarkos

Hanaeleh helps to network horses who need homes, free of charge. These horses are offered free to a good home, but an adoption agreement and contract are often suggested. Hanaeleh is not responsible for any of the information provided and does not know anything beyond what is listed in the post- please contact the owner directly.

We were contacted by a young woman who is trying to find a safe home for her horse. Rosie is NOT at Hanaeleh- she is currently at a facility in Southern California. If you know of anyone who might be interested in Rosie, please contact the owner Andrea directly: andreak41993@gmail.com.

Rosie is a 21 year-old, 16 hand OTTB mare. Rosie’s registered name is Iron Sneakers, and was born on March 2, 1998. She had one win and one place in her racing career (see her pedigree below).

Andrea got Rosie when she was 14, and she rode Rosie through her teenage years. When her parents got divorced and could not longer afford Rosie, her grandparents stepped in to help pay for Rosie’s board and upkeep. Unfortunately, she lost both of her grandparents this past year within a few months of each other, and now is having difficulty affording Rosie’s board.

A few years ago, Rosie had a failed tie-back surgery, and now has a flap in her esophagus which causes her to cough when being ridden. Other than than, Rosie is healthy. She does well with other horses and is currently at a retirement facility in Southern California. Her owner is currently in Florida, and is looking for a safe home for Rosie as a companion horse.

Rosie is NOT at Hanaeleh- she is currently at a facility in Southern California. If you know of anyone who might be interested in Rosie, please contact the owner Andrea directly: andreak41993@gmail.com.
