SAFE! Ventura County, CA: 18 y/o Dun Quarter Horse Gelding Needs Home

October 6, 2016 By ezarkos

We’ve received word that Dude has found a great home. Thank you!

Hanaeleh helps to network horses who need homes, free of charge. These horses are offered free to a good home, but an adoption agreement and contract are often suggested. Hanaeleh is not responsible for any of the information provided and does not know anything beyond what is listed in the post- please contact the owner directly.

“Dude” is an 18 year-old registered Dun Quarter horse gelding who needs a home. Dude was in the drill team for the Blue Shadows Mounted Drill Team between 2005- 2007 and has also been in parades. He was ridden western and is good at being saddled and is OK for the farrier. He trailers well and has also been on trail, although he would rather be in a group. He does not like being alone, so he would need to be in a stable situation or somewhere he would have other horses around him. He does well with other horses as long as he is introduced to them slowly. Dude would not be a good horse for a beginner, but would be fine for an intermediate handler/rider. He does better with someone who is calm and patient.

He went lame in his left front, most likely from being ridden too hard, in 2007, and has not been ridden since then, although he appears to be serviceably sound.  Because of his previous injury, he should not be ridden hard again, but would be fine for light trail and arena riding.

Dude is in good weight and has been taken care of, but he is behind on his vaccinations and would most likely do well by being on some joint supplements as well. He was kicked when he was a foal, and has a slight discharge that comes out of his eye, but it does not affect his vision.

Dude is registered with the AQHA: he was born June 14, 1998. His registered name is Frontiers Poco Dude and his registration number: 3739795.

Dude is NOT at Hanaeleh, and we do not have any other information than what the owner has provided for us here. For more information on Dude, please contact his owner directly: (818) 356-5452.
