UPDATE: Haven and Cullen in the Arena

January 12, 2020 By ezarkos

Today we turned Haven and Cullen out in the turnout area above their stall for the first time. The had their feet trimmed on Friday, but the horses were in such pain when we first brought them in that we wanted to take it easy and not push them.

Well, they seemed pretty happy to finally get out! Haven trotted around a little and Cullen walked quite a bit. Haven still has swelling on her right knee, but we have a massage therapist coming out this week to work on her, so we are hopeful that she will continue to improve.

For the record, we have had these horses in our care for eight days. Eight days ago they were a few days from death. They were in so much pain they could barely move. In just a week, they are healing and moving around comfortably. It took a lot of work- our volunteer Leslie is out with them almost everyday for several hours and feeds them twice a day. Their foster family is out everyday and feeds them three times a day. That being said, they just needed food, a little care, and a lot of love in order to heal. Thankfully with so many people helping them, they are well on their way.
