Thanksgiving 2024: A Message of Gratitude from Hanaeleh

November 26, 2024 By ezarkos

This past year has been fraught with challenges, but we have been able to overcome them with the incredible help of all of our supporters. We at Hanaeleh are all grateful for everyone’s support- it is because of your kindness and generosity that we are able to continue the work of saving the horses.

Thank You to Our Volunteers!

Our volunteers are the lifeblood of the rescue- they come out every week (sometimes multiple times a week!) and work very hard! Whether it’s cleaning stalls, scrubbing waterers, spreading mulch, or grooming and exercising the horses, we are dependent upon our volunteers for doing the majority of the work. We are a volunteer-based organization, and we are very thankful to our dedicated volunteers.

If you are interested in volunteering at Hanaeleh, please e-mail: volunteer@hanaeleh.org for more information!

Thank You to Our Donors!

We have so much gratitude for our donors! Whether it be a one-time donation or a monthly sponsorship for one of our horses, we are very thankful for your support. You are the reason we are able to pay our rent, buy hay, grain and supplements for the horses, as well as paying for the veterinary and farrier bills. Without your donation, we would not be able to run the rescue- so a huge thank you!

If you’d like to set up a monthly sponsorship for one of our horses, please visit our sponsorship page here. Here is a link for a one-time donation.

Thank You to Our Veterinarians!

Hanaeleh is very thankful to our very dedicated veterinarians who have come out and helped our horses through the years. The vets at OC Equine work diligently to help keep our horses healthy and happy! They do everything they can to help reduce our costs so we can afford to give the best care to all of our horses!

Thank You to Our Community!

We are very blessed to have the support of our local ETI club, which helps keep us in-the-know about evacuation plans in case of a fire, issues regarding our trail system, and just the local goings on of the canyon. We appreciate their support through the years!

We are also very lucky to have Hitch’n Post Feed and Tack  and Rob Gordon Feed deliver our hay and grain to Hanaeleh on a weekly basis. They do the really heavy lifting of delivering over a dozen bales of hay (around 100 pounds each!), multiple bags of pellets and grain and 20 bags of shavings- EVERY WEEK! It takes a lot to feed our horses, but we do everything we can to ensure they have the highest quality of feed, and we are very thankful to the feed stores for making that happen.

Hitch’n Post has also generously donated items to Hanaeleh to help feed and care for our horses… we are so very lucky to have the support of incredible organizations that work to ensure that our horses are cared for.

If you would like to place a credit for Hanaeleh at one of the feed stores, you can contact them here:

Thank You to Our Social Media Friends!

Finally, thank you to all of those people who support Hanaeleh online. You help us by sharing posts of horses who need homes, telling other people about Hanaeleh, and posting wonderful, supportive messages on our social media pages that help keep us going. We greatly appreciate all of your kind words to our newsletter and to our social media posts- thank you so much!

Thank you to our Firefighters/Emergency Responders/Rescuers!

Due to the Airport Fire that started less than a mile from us, we had to evacuate all of the horses and animals from the ranch in September. The whole ordeal was fraught with challenges, but we were able to get through those challenges with the help of our amazing community who banded together to help us and all of the horses and people who had to evacuate the canyons. We are very thankful for the people who helped transport the horses to safety, to Serrano Creek Equestrian Center who allowed us to stay at their facility until it was safe to return, and to all of the people who helped us during the evacuation time.

We are also incredibly grateful now and always to the amazing firefighters and emergency responders who consistently put their own safety at risk by fighting fires in very extreme conditions. We are thankful for everything that they do!

Have a Wonderful Thanksgiving!

We hope that everyone has a wonderful thanksgiving, and you are surrounded by those who care about you. We know that our Thanksgiving will be full of love and gratitude.
