This past week we had expected to welcome Marty, a 25 year-old Quarter horse who was coming from Bakersfield (you can read his original post here). We even had a few kind people donate to help us pay for Marty's transport to Hanaeleh. Unfortunately, a few days before Marty came down, we were told that he was a stallion. Keene, CA: 25 y/o Quarter Horse Gelding Needs Home!

Marty was abandoned in the orange groves in Bakersfield. He was covered in mud and hadn't been fed well, but was eating almonds to survive. A wonderful woman was able to save him from starving, but she is unable to keep him. Please note: Marty is NOT at Hanaeleh- he is in Keene, CA (near Bakersfield). When Sierra first came to Hanaeleh, we were told that she was trained under saddle. One ride very quickly showed us that not only wasn't Sierra trained at all, she had been abused, and was fearful and would rear, spin, buck or crow hop when we started to work with her. It wasn't her fault- whoever had worked with her before had been very aggressive, and instead of teaching her what they wanted, they hurt her.
