Starlight was Napoleon’s pasture mate. When we came out to see her, we were unhappily greeted with what looked like a severe case of founder. Starlight had been seen regularly by a vet who had merely prescribed a few tablets of bute for what must have been severe pain. Starlight had worn all of the skin away on her hips where she lay down, and while we were there, developed an arterial bleed. With the owner’s blessing, we made the arrangements to allow Starlight to go to sleep and to escape from her constant pain.
