San Diego Humane Society: 4 Horses Need Homes

April 18, 2015 By ezarkos

We received an e-mail from a rescue down in San Diego, who was contacted by the local humane society, asking for their help in placing four of their older horses.  They have four mares who were all taken from their various owners for neglect. The horses are now up to weight and relatively healthy, but while all of the horses can be handled, for various reasons, they are not rideable. Right now the shelter is looking for someone who can adopt one or more of these lovely mares and give them a forever home. Unfortunately, all of these horses are at risk for euthanasia, so if you are able to take one of these lovely and deserving horses, please call the shelter ASAP! Please feel free to crosspost and share. Information about each horse (from the San Diego Humane Society) and contact info is below:

1. Gracie- #154713- Approx. 22 yrs, 16 hand Thoroughbred mare. She is very nice to work with, easy to trim her feet. She loves attention. She is not rideable as she is very stiff and creaky from her racing and jumping career. She was used for lessons in her later years until she started tripping and eventually falling with a couple of students. She had been at a retirement ranch for a number of years until the owner abandoned her.  She is at the Escondido shelter.
