This little Quarter horse mare is from the same stable that we rescued the Arabian mares from a few weeks ago. She is about 14 years old. The owner of the stables took this mare in on a trade, and she has been used in a lesson program for the past several months. She has a swollen knee, and is going to be sent to auction if we cannot find a place for her. The owner says he would rather not have to send her to the auction, but will do so knowing fully that she may be purchased by a killer buyer for the purpose of slaughter.
Her name is Lexie, and she is great with kids- has been shown both English and western, and according to the owner of the stable, was a very good mover. We are not sure if she will be able to be sound again with a layup. She would be a good companion horse, or a good backyard horse for someone with kids- she is used to being handled by teens and children and has a good disposition.
Please let me know IMMEDIATELY if you are able to offer Lexie a home: (949) 842-7408 or elizabeth@hanaeleh.org. We can transport her, but we need to get her out of the stable before the owner ships her to the auction.
