Cody has found a home! Please see our update:
Last year we helped facilitate the adoption of Cody, a cute buckskin Missouri Foxtrotter gelding whose owner was looking for a home for him. He was quickly adopted by one of our supporters who had previously adopted another horse from us. Unfortunately, the new owner is working a lot and just does not have the time to ride Cody, and she does not feel he is getting the attention he deserves. She is looking for a good home for him where he will be ridden and loved.
Information about Cody from his current owner:
Cody is about 15 hands and is a sooty Buckskin. Cody was born in May, 2007 in Ohio. His registered name is Cody’s Golden Myles H. 07-91688 (there are copies of the papers, but no originals). Cody is barefoot, and was just trimmed last week. His vaccinations/wormer/float are up-to-date. He currently eats a mixture of orchard and alfalfa.
Cody is great being trailered, either alone or with another horse. His owner has taken him camping and he does great. He is good out on trail, especially with other horses. He gets a little nervous when going out by himself. He ponies well and has no problem riding near traffic. If he gets spooked he just stops. He gaits well and has a smooth canter. His current owner has never experienced any major issues under saddle- he will understandably get nervous when being left behind a group of horses. His previous owner said he bucked, but the new owner has never experienced any bucking in the entire year she has had him, so that may have been because of an ill-fitting saddle.
Cody is great for the vet and farrier, stands well, has good ground manners, clipping, and ponies well. He is friendly with other horses, dogs, and barn animals (goats and pigs).
He currently lives in turnout with another gelding and a mare. He runs the mare around but follows the gelding like a puppy. Overall, Cody is a quiet and relaxed guy, no bad habits such as pacing or cribbing.
What Cody needs is someone to ride him and to work with him! He needs regular exercise to build muscle.
Please note: Cody is not currently at Hanaeleh, but Hanaeleh will need to approve the adoption and the new owner will need to sign an adoption agreement with Hanaeleh. There is an adoption fee of $1,000 for Cody.
