UPDATE: We were able to take in Bailey to Hanaeleh. Please see her post about how she came to Hanaeleh here.
Los Angeles, CA: We were contacted by a woman whose job is moving to Texas, and she is concerned that her horse can neither make the trip, nor would her horse do well in the Texas climate, and is looking for a good home for her horse.
Bailey, a.k.a. Miss B is an 18 year-old bay Thoroughbred Mare. She is 16.2 hands. She suffers from COPD (also known as heaves, and is similar to asthma in humans), which is why the humidity in Texas is not a good place for her. Bailey has not been treated well by her previous owners- she has been through auctions and through multiple owners who mistreated her. She is a lovely mare and while she can’t work hard because of the COPD, she is good in the arena and is great on easy trails with an experienced rider. She is great with kids- the owner has put her on a lead line with the kids on her back and she is very steady. Bailey trailers well, ties, and is up-to-date on all of her shots and her teeth have been floated in the past year. She is currently barefoot and sound.
Her owner is devastated that she cannot keep Bailey- she was assuming she would be her forever home, but realizes that it is better that Bailey stay in California where the weather is more conducive to her needs.
Bailey would be great as a companion horse, pasture pet or for someone who wants to do light riding.
If you are interested in Bailey, please fill out our horse inquiry form and we will forward your information onto the owner. Bailey is NOT at Hanaeleh and does not have an adoption fee- we are just acting as an intermediary for the owner. Please feel free to share the post with people you think might be interested in Bailey.
