Incoming Horse Rescue: Funds needed for “Lou Dillon”, Found in Watts

February 24, 2019 By Hanaeleh

Incoming rescue, Lou Dillon was found walking down the street in Watts. People were throwing trash at him 🙁

UPDATE: We have rescued Lou Dillon and his friend, who we have named Sweet Pea.

We are still accepting donations (we are a 501C3 nonprofit so donations are tax deductible). Click HERE.

Hanaeleh is working on the rescue of a frightened, skinny horse found walking down the street in Watts (CA). “Lou Dillon” is a Thoroughbred gelding, 25-30 years old and he had no saddle on him when found. Cars were dodging him in traffic and people were throwing trash and flying objects at him.

A kind citizen shepherded him into their yard and called LAPD.

The cops showed up and named him “Lou Dillon” because that’s the name of the street he was found on! They made arrangements to take him to the Baldwin Park Animal Shelter. We believe he is approximately 400 lbs underweight.

His days are very numbered at the Shelter so they contacted Hanaeleh and many other rescues. We are still working on this critical situation and we need your help.

We want to rescue Lou Dillon but before we can do that, Hanaeleh needs to collect enough funds to cover what will surely be a long recovery.

Total donations needed to rescue: $1,010

  • Farrier: $40
  • Vet Intake Exam: $70
  • Teeth float: $250
  • Vaccinations: $250
  • First month’s food and supplements: $400

Ongoing care:  $400/month

“Lou Dillon” will need extra feed to regain weight. He’ll go through about $50 worth of pellets a month plus $200 in hay. Supplements, including a muscle mass supplement to help him gain weight, are an additional $150/month.

Here is Lou Dillon in the person’s front yard. It looks as though there’s a trash bag over him(?)

How you can help!

There are two options to donate to help us save “Lou Dillon”:

1. Click HERE to donate any amount to help us save “Lou Dillon”.

2. Set up a monthly sponsorship for “Lou Dillon”

We can only do this rescue with your help. We’ll need monthly sponsors for “Lou Dillon” due to what will surely be his long-term care. Choose from the options below to set up a monthly sponsorship for “Lou Dillon” (be sure to let us know you are sponsoring him by putting his name in the space provided!).
