Hanaeleh Horses’ New Year’s Resolutions

Happy 2024 from all of us at Hanaeleh!

We asked all of Hanaeleh’s horses what their New Year’s Resolutions were for 2024! They all have interesting goals for the new year!

Andromeda

I resolve to stop threatening to attack all of the other horses when my food comes, because, realistically speaking, they really can’t get into my stall and take my food, although now that I think it through, it’s really better to be safe than sorry.

Gabriel

I resolve to continue to grow out my mane and tail because the volunteers love to brush it out.

Garnet

I resolve to stop rearing, pulling back at the tie rail, trying to run off while on the line, bolting in the round pen… I mean, I resolve to continue to be the best horse at the ranch.

Gypsy

I resolve to continue to try weird foods that Elizabeth gives me, because usually she gives me baked goods, which are yummy.

Hope

I resolve to be nicer to my best friend Andromeda, because she is my bestest friend, and also I hate her.

LadyBug

I resolve not to be scared of my shadow, the shadows of others, and especially I will not be afraid of people, horses, dogs, birds, squirrels, buildings, cars, trees, grass, dirt, rocks, wind, sun, rain, nighttime, or days that end in Y.

Lou Dillon

I resolve to be more patient with the farrier and with people who want to wipe my face, because I need to look good for the ladies.

Noelle

I resolve to be more patient with people who want to touch my face, because usually they are just cleaning out the gunk in my eyes.

Ollie

I resolve to exercise more in the arena instead of just walking over to the side and eating the grass.

Quixote

I resolve to crib less, unless the pipe stall just happens to be right there, and the humans don’t put my collar on.

Raven

I resolve to continue to be beautiful, because the humans enjoy being around beautiful horses like me.

Ruby

I resolve to act less like a giraffe when the humans try to put the bridle on.

Rylee

I resolve not to squish people against the tie rail, unless the humans just happen to be standing there and I just happen to be leaning up against them.

Sierra

I resolve to be nicer to my horsie friends, unless they annoy me, or I am in a bad mood, or I just don’t feel like it.

Tillie

I resolve to remind the humans that they should always lock the gate behind them by running out of unlocked gates, and to help teach them to make my grain faster, because they are SO slow!

Ulysses

I resolve to enjoy breakfast… and dinner… and snackies… and grain time… and treats… and turnouts… and grooming time… and snackies.

Venus

I resolve to walk up to more people and let them put my halter on because it makes them feel very special.
