Food for Thought Grant

March 7, 2017 By ezarkos

Hanaeleh joins other animal protection organizations across the United States, such as the Humane Society of the United States, Best Friends Animal Society, to adopt a compassionate food policy. Due to its formal adoption of a compassionate food policy, Hanaeleh has been awarded a food grant from the Food for Thought campaign.

A compassionate food policy means that Hanaeleh will ensure that any food we serve at our events will be vegetarian or vegan. Our policy stems from the idea that, although Hanaeleh is a horse rescue, we understand that all animals are sentient beings, with individual feelings and unique personalities, and should be respected equally.
Hanaeleh Food Policy
Hanaeleh is at its heart a horse rescue, but our members are dedicated to supporting ending the cruel treatment of all animals. Working to help one type of animal but ignoring the suffering of another animal is hypocritical and does not support the humane message that Hanaeleh works to promote. To that end, we are committed to ensuring that we encourage compassionate food choices by serving only vegetarian fare at our events, and promoting more plant-based and vegan options.
