Venus came to us in August, 2018. She had been through a lot in her life before she came to us. She had been purchased at an auction by Hi-Caliber, a now defunct organization. Hi-Caliber had a number of claims of neglect of the horses in their care before it was shut down, as well as volunteers attesting to the fact that the leaders of the organization would shoot horses if they could not adopt them out in a short amount of time. UPDATE: Venus
Venus came to Hanaeleh this summer. She had been picked up at an auction by a "rescue" organization that has since been shut down. At their facility, a splinter was embedded in her eye, which was not discovered until she was fostered out to an individual who was supposed to help train her. The foster realized the eye was infected, but by the time she had the vet out, too much damage and scar tissue had built up in the eye. Announcing Venus: 22 y/o Rocky Mountain Horse, Our Latest Rescue
Venus is a very sweet 22 year-old Rocky Mountain Horse mare. She was purchased in an auction by Hi Caliber last year and put into one of their paddocks. Besides being thin, there were no other major health issues, as noted by their veterinarian and intake pictures, and a few months later she was fostered by a wonderful woman to see if she could be trained to ride.
