RIP Sable

September 16, 2022 By ezarkos

We are very sad to report that earlier this week we had to make the very difficult decision to help Sable over the Rainbow Bridge. Losing Sable has left us all heartbroken. Sable came to Hanaeleh at the end of March 2022; we rescued her and Tilly from a situation where they were not cared for appropriately. Their stalls at their previous home had not been cleaned in months, and Sable's hooves had suffered. She had dropped soles and had foundered as well. Additionally, while she was on … [Read more...]

Sable’s New Shoes

June 28, 2022 By ezarkos

When rescued Sable a few months ago, she was physically in very poor shape. Her coat was matted and fine, and she had urine scalding across her belly from lying in manure. She had been on some medication to treat her Cushings, but the dosage was incorrect so it wasn't helping much. Her feet were also a mess- she had foundered in the past, and her soles had dropped from standing in the soft manure for months. Her hoof walls had cracked and started to separate from her hoof. We were not sure if … [Read more...]

Hanaeleh Got a Call About Two Horses Who Needed Help A few months ago we received a call from a woman who had two horses in Escondido CA that she could no longer care for. Usually we network horses if we don't immediately have any room, but … [Read more...]
