Working Together to Rescue a Baby Donkey, Ends Happily!

July 13, 2015 By ezarkos

Norman is comforted by a volunteer at Mustang-Spirit,

We were contacted this week to help rescue a baby donkey who was in dire need. He was one of 55 donkeys that were rounded up in Texas and sent to the Kaufman McBarron Slaughter Holding Station...and scheduled to ship to Mexico. He was actually pulled from the truck on the way to the slaughterhouse! The little donkey was sent to quarantine where he was vetted, wormed and was otherwise healthy. He was scheduled to go to Washington, but he did very poorly during transport, and the rescue … [Read more...]

Aurora: Newest Rescue Horse at Hanaeleh

July 6, 2015 By ezarkos

Aurora in the round pen.

Last December we were contacted by a family who had a buckskin Quarter horse in need.  The owners had major medical issues and the other family members were not able to take the horse.  Unfortunately, because of the horse's age (she is 26) and because she had not been worked with for a while, they had difficulties finding a home for her.  We put her on our waiting list, and tried to network her, but unfortunately we were not able to find her a safe place. Luckily with Sapphire's adoption, we had … [Read more...]
