Wild Beauty Documentary

May 21, 2023 By ezarkos

This past week, Elizabeth had the honor of being a special guest at the documentary Wild Beauty, a movie about the plight of the wild horses and how the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) continues to round them up for no reason except for the fact that large corporate cattle and sheep ranchers and oil companies want to occupy these federal lands. The Issue of Unnecessary Wild Horse Roundups We have been working to educate the public about this issue for years- the BLM has shown itself to be a … [Read more...]

Rescued! Two Weanlings and a Mule!

April 21, 2023 By ezarkos

We are so pleased to be able to have a happy ending to the post we put up on Monday about three babies who were at a feedlot on the border. The Backstory Hanaeleh's president Elizabeth happened to be scrolling through Facebook when she saw the post by Auction Horses Rescue. They were trying to network weanlings and yearling horses that had been rounded up from the Navajo reservation. Their mothers had immediately been shipped to slaughter, and the feedlot had been trying to sell off the foals, … [Read more...]

UPDATE: We Did It! SAFE! 3 Baby Foals Due to Be Shipped to Slaughter!

April 16, 2023 By ezarkos

UPDATE 4/17/23: We were able to save the babies! One of our previous board members and supporters has offered to quarantine them for 30 days while we get them vetted and continue to network for new homes for them. The black colt was saved separately, so we only had to take the bay filly and the chestnut colt. We were also told of a pony-sized mule who was set to ship to slaughter as well, so we were able to get him safe also! They are scheduled to arrive later this week (Wednesday or … [Read more...]

April 3, 2023 By Hanaeleh

Hanaeleh has been at our current facility for over 13 years now, and we have spent a lot of money into making the property work for us and the horses. We have put a lot of money into the property, putting in solar panels, lights, water pipes, automatic waterers for all horses, sheds, and pipe corrals and shelters for all of the horses. Although we have a lot invested in the property, the owner is not interested in selling it, so purchasing it is not an option. While we have enjoyed our time … [Read more...]
