RIP: Devon
We are very sad to report that Devon crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Thursday 1/24/19. Devon came to us last year because he had contracted EHV-1, which is a virus that affects the neurological parts of a horse's body. It is a devastating illness, but his owners and the vets were able to get him through the worst part of the virus. Update: Riding Hershey and Horse Archery
A few months ago, one of the horses we had adopted out about 10 years ago came back when his owner was unable to keep him due to medical and financial issues. Hershey had been at a retirement facility for a number of years, and as a result lost quite a bit of his muscletone. When we got him back, we weren't certain if he would be rideable at all, and our focus was just on getting some more weight on him and building back some of the muscle he had lost. Equine Advocacy: Hanaeleh’s Response to Criticism about Being “Political”
We live in an incredibly polarized time right now, and people's tempers get high when they feel that their personal moral beliefs are being challenged. Our goal at Hanaeleh is not to choose a political side, but to point out issues that affect animals- horses, specifically.
