Ruby is a beautiful Thoroughbred who came to Hanaeleh a few years ago because her owner no longer had the money to feed her. She was losing her ranch and other rescues had taken all of her other horses, but none of them would take Ruby. Ruby's future was uncertain so Hanaeleh offered to take her and rehabilitate her. Update: Gypsy (August, 2020)
Gypsy is our resident wild Mustang, even though she was rounded up and separated from her family at three years old in 2006. When she was wild, Gypsy was living in California and Nevada before her family was herded up and thrown into holding pens, then separated from one another. Update: Sapphire (August, 2020)
Sapphire is a 30+ year young Thoroughbred that Hanaeleh rescued over a decade ago. Her previous owner had hit her with a car while driving through the pasture (he said he thought she would move), and it took us over a year to rehabilitate her from that injury. She had chiropractors and massage therapists working on her every week as she had a rib out of place and a lot of muscle damage. Update: Tamahome (August, 2020)
Tamahome is one of our permanent residents at Hanaeleh. He is cared for and loved by our president and founder, Elizabeth, who rescued him from a situation of neglect and abuse. He has been with her for the past 12 years, and is currently 21 years old. Tamahome is one of Hanaeleh's ambassadors- he loves greeting everyone and showing off his tricks for people.
