It seems like only yesterday that we brought Ulysses home from the Riverside Animal Shelter. Can you believe that this June will be Ulysses' 10th anniversary of being rescued? He is truly a miracle horse. Ulysses had been horribly abused by Charros, only to be dumped in the Riverside CA riverbed, then picked up by Animal Control, only to be slated to be put down the following day. UPDATE 2022: Hershey

Hershey is an Appendix (Quarter horse/Thoroughbred cross) gelding. He came back to Hanaeleh a few years ago when his owner was unable to care for him. He is in his mid-20s, and is now a permanent resident of Hanaeleh. Hershey has navicular, and he has arthritis in his hips, so it is difficult for him to canter sometimes, but we still exercise him regularly. Gypsy is a permanent resident of Hanaeleh. She continues to be the queen of the ranch, even though she lives in the lower paddock. She is a wild Mustang, and Mustangs often only will bond with one person, and that person happens to be Elizabeth. Gypsy loves Elizabeth, and really dislikes everyone else (unless you are offering her treats- in that case, you may give her the treat, and then you may leave).
