Raven is a 16 year-old Friesian mare who came to Hanaeleh a few months ago. She had been given to a trainer as a lesson horse, but unfortunately she isn't trained to ride, and the trainer didn't have time to train her. She wanted to make sure that Raven found a safe home, which is why she came to Hanaeleh. When Sierra came to Hanaeleh, we were told that she was trained to ride and just a little nervous out on trail, but we quickly discovered that not only was she not trained, but that previous trainers had used abusive methods when working with her. As a result, we had to teach Sierra how to work under saddle, and we needed her to trust us and to eliminate the fear reaction she had to being worked. UPDATE 2022: Garnet

It's been just about six months since Garnet came to Hanaeleh. We realized very quickly that her breathing issues were serious, and discovered that her larynx was infected and she had almost no airway left to breathe through. We decided to go ahead with surgery to remove part of her larynx so she would have an adequate airway and would be able to live normally.
