Monday, 10/7/13- D’Artagnan Update

10/7/13- D'Artagnan is continuing to look good and pass manure normally.  He is comfortable and on his normal feed.  We will update if there are any other issues, but for now, things continue to look good!   D'Artagnan had originally colicced last Tuesday, and the vet was called out to assess him. D'Artagnan is allergic to Banamine, a common drug used in colics, so we had to treat him with alternative drugs.  He was very dehydrated and his rectum was full. (Reno, NV) Today Reno Federal Court Judge Miranda Du denied a request by government attorneys to delay hearings on First Amendment claims made against Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge in regard to access to horses removed from the Refuge last month. (Reno, NV) Final briefs were filed in Reno Federal Court yesterday to gain transparency of action and protections from slaughter for the last of the Sheldon mustangs. The hardy horses that have resided in the Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge for more than a century are being permanently exterminated from the range and left vulnerable to slaughter.
