Anaheim Hills, CA: 18 y/o Warmblood Gelding Needs Home

May 17, 2014 By ezarkos

We received a call this week from an owner who is looking to rehome his 18 y/o Warmblood gelding.   He has been offered money for this guy, but the owner is very choosy about getting his boy the right home, and is more concerned with finding an owner who will be a good fit.

The gelding is sound and is currently being ridden dressage and on trail.  The owner said that he used to jump him, but the horse just doesn’t want to jump anymore.  There is nothing physically wrong with the horse, but he has not had a lot of stability in his life, and gets nervous with an inexperienced rider.  The owner would love to see this guy in a backyard as a trail horse or with someone who wants a beautiful boy for pleasure riding.

The horse would need a confident rider who would be able to provide boundaries for the horse- he is fine with an individual who is knowledgeable and consistent, but he would not be a good fit for a novice rider.  He could theoretically compete in dressage again, although the owner warns that the horse does not care for showing and gets nervous.  He also gets nervous when moved from one stable to another, so he would do best with someone who wanted to keep him in one place. Again, he would be an awesome horse for someone who wants do pleasure riding and some trail.  He’s in a paddock now and has lived with other horses.

The horse is barefoot and sound.  He is pretty tall- just about 17 hands.  He is up-to-date on all of his vaccinations.
