We were contacted by a woman who has been trying to find a home for her beautiful 17hh, 8 yr old (4/12/17) dappled grey Thoroughbred gelding, Argento (means silver). Argento raced when he was younger, and his registered named is Little Cairo. He is a descendent of American Pharaoh, and was sold as a yearling for $50K.
His owner purchased him after Argento was retired from racing, but after over two years and $5,000 in training, she has just come to the conclusion that he is just too much horse for her. She wants him to find an owner that understands that he needs daily work and consistency with his training. Argento needs an intermediate/advanced rider and handler. He was free jumping 2 feet, and he is in excellent health/condition/weight. He is up-to-date on all of his medical and farrier care. He has front shoes.
Argento’s only issue is that he cribs, but he wears a collar when he is in his stall, and he does not crib with the collar or when he is turned out, and his teeth are fine. He currently gets fed three times a day- alfalfa and orchard, as well as a few supplements given to him by his owner.
Argento is NOT at Hanaeleh- if you are interested in Argento, please fill out our horse inquiry form and we will forward all inquiries onto the owner.
