Tilly Gets Adopted and Arrives at Her New Home!

August 16, 2022 By ezarkos

We are very pleased to share the news that Tilly has been adopted! We rescued Tilly at the end of March, from a family who loved her very much, but who had been unable to care for her appropriately. Tilly had not been ridden in several months, and while she was fed regularly, she was kept in her stall and was not exercised. Additionally, she needed vet and farrier care.

Thankfully, Hanaeleh was able to take Tilly (and her friend, Sable), and within a few months of regular care, Tilly started to look and feel much better. We were able to start riding her and exercising her regularly. Last month we decided that Tilly was healthy enough for a new home! We talked to a number of different people, and had a few people come out to meet her, but we wanted to make sure that we found the perfect home for Tilly, and her new family would be a good fit. We were very pleased to meet Meghan, who came out to work with Tilly and ride her a few times. She had the vet come out to do a vet check to make sure Tilly was healthy enough for light trail riding, and of course the vet said she loved Tilly!

We took Tilly to her new home up the street to a local stable this past Sunday morning. Tilly was her usual wonderful self and walked right into the trailer with no issues. When we got to the stable, Meghan walked Tilly down to her new stall. Tilly seemed interested in everything, but even though it was a new environment with horses riding around, Tilly was calm during the entire walk down.

Meghan’s entire family was there to greet Tilly, and was excited to see her! Meghan put Tilly in her new stall, which is nice and shaded. Tilly had a few words with her next-door neighbor, who seemed interested in her, but wanted to let Tilly know she was the boss (Tilly didn’t really care one way or the other!).  We made sure that Tilly was settled in, and finally left her to hang out with her new family.

We are so very happy for Tilly, and we hope that she and her new family have a lot of fun new adventures together!

Check out Tilly’s arrival at her new home below.
