We received a call several weeks ago about a 14 year old Irish Sport Horse named Ollie who needed a place to live. He was a retired Grand Prix jumper (which meant he was jumping 6 foot jumps!) but he had developed navicular and suspensory issues which prevented him from being ridden. Update: Titan Loves His New Home! (and His New Owners Love Him!)
We are so happy to report that Titan's owner has told me that Titan is doing so wonderfully in his new home! He has settled in easily into his new home, and is doing so well! His new owners are so in love with him, and he is in a huge paddock where he can wander about all day. They also take him out on trail, and even down to the beach! Update: Titan (November 2017)
Last August we were contacted by our veterinarian, who asked us to take Titan. Titan had torn suspensories on both hind legs. He had a long rehab ahead of him, but after his rehab, he would be sound and rideable. We did take Titan, and were faced with at least six months and potentially a year of needing to be hand walked for 15-20 minutes everyday. It did take about a year before we were able to ride Titan, and another few months beyond that before we were able to trot him under saddle. … [Read more...]
