Stetson is a 29 year-old Quarter horse who spent most of his life as a lesson horse at a local stable, helping to teach people how to ride. He developed Cushings, which the owner treated, but when Stetson developed neurological issues at the age of 25 and would start tripping, it was obvious that he was no longer safe to ride. Update: Quixote (August, 2020)
Quixote is an Andalusian/Thoroughbred cross who came to Hanaeleh in July, 2013. He was a complete mess when we first got him- he was so completely attached to the other horse we brought with him that he was dangerous- we couldn't even get the horse a few feet from him without him freaking out! Update: Ulysses (August, 2020)
Ulysses is an Appendix gelding and he came to Hanaeleh a little over eight years ago! Time flies when you're rehabbing horses! We rescued him from the Riverside shelter on July 21st in 2012. He was scheduled to be put down two days later because he was diagnosed as being neurological. In addition, he was emaciated and it was obvious that he had been severely abused- there were scars and wounds all over his body. Update: Hope and Grace (August, 2020)
Hope and Grace came to Hanaeleh in 2018. They are both Arabian mares- Grace was a little over 30 and Hope was in her mid-20s. They had not been cared for well in some time, and were thin and neglected. We were able to provide them with regular food, farrier care and veterinary attention, until they were healthy enough to be adopted out.
