We love our little Yamaha Rhino ATV. It helps us carry shavings, hay, hay pellets, and the horses' daily grain. We desperately need it serviced, and it needs new brakes! We had a mobile mechanic who had been coming out to the ranch to repair it, but he moved, and we haven't found anyone local who can help us. Welcome Tillie to Hanaeleh!
Tillie is an 18 year-old chestnut Quarter horse mare (we know- ANOTHER chestnut mare!). She is very sweet but very opinionated (as all good chestnut mares are), and will let us know what she thinks about any given situation. This sweet girl came to Hanaeleh because her owner is dealing with a number of medical issues and was no longer able to care for her horse. UPDATE: Garnet, August 2021
It's been a few weeks since Garnet came to Hanaeleh, but her breathing was so bad when she came that we had the vet out to see if there was anything else we could do to help keep her comfortable. Her previous owner's vet had prescribed some medication to administer once a week, but we were hopeful that perhaps there was something else we could do. Update: Gypsy (August, 2020)
Gypsy is our resident wild Mustang, even though she was rounded up and separated from her family at three years old in 2006. When she was wild, Gypsy was living in California and Nevada before her family was herded up and thrown into holding pens, then separated from one another. If Gypsy's experience was like most wild horse roundups, several of her fellow herd members, including foals, were killed. Hanaeleh intervened when Gypsy's owner posted her as a "free horse."
