Aurora: Newest Rescue Horse at Hanaeleh
Last December we were contacted by a family who had a buckskin Quarter horse in need. The owners had major medical issues and the other family members were not able to take the horse. Unfortunately, because of the horse's age (she is 26) and because she had not been worked with for a while, they had difficulties finding a home for her. Trabuco Canyon, CA: Savannah- 20 y/o Paint Mare for Adoption
Savannah is a 15.2 hand Paint Quarter horse mare. She was originally a broodmare but in 2012 had been found starving with her foal at her side. Her foal found a home and Hanaeleh rehabilitated Savannah and she was adopted out in 2013. Last month, her owner contacted Hanaeleh and said he could no longer keep her due to his medical issues, so she came back to Hanaeleh, and is once again looking for her forever home! UPDATE: Savannah
Savannah came to us a few years ago, horribly emaciated and overall in terrible shape. She had been a broodmare who had been neglected and was rescued, but the woman who rescued her did not have the funds to rehabilitate Savannah. When we got her, her foal had found a home, but she had been nursing him for so long with so little food that her own system was severely compromised; her hair was falling out, she had other skin and fungal infections, cuts on her would not heal normally, etc. It took … [Read more...]
