Reno was one of four horses that Hanaeleh took in when they were told of a woman who had passed away suddenly when her tractor flipped backwards onto her. Reno was very thin, and soon after he came to live with us, Reno developed laminitis. The vet suggested that we may have to put him down, but bloodwork determined that he was insulin resistant, and a change in diet helped him to become healthy and happy. Reno had very bad eyesight, and got scared easily, but he was very happy in his stall and with a short walk to the arena where he got to roll around. Reno developed heaves, which was treated with antihistamine, but one night he had a very bad case that prevented him from breathing without great difficulty. When it was determined that he would not be able to recover, we made the decision to help him pass with dignity.
