I hope everyone had a great week! Here is your weekly horsie update:
Charley- I’m sure everyone has read that he will be with us through March! Yay! He is continuing to do well and is still gaining weight!
Annie- She is getting pretty pudgy- we’re going to have to work her more! She has been very good in the arena and is getting better with the bit!
Rio- Still cute, still not colored in all the way. 🙂
Reno- The vet came out on Tuesday and did a full review- he has a general diagnosis of “heaves” which pretty much means any sort of inflammation in the lungs. The nice thing about Reno, however, is that he does not have any constriction when at rest, and he is already outside, so he should be fine as long as we manage his exercise; he cannot stay on steroids because of his IR diagnosis. We will be changing his diet this week, so if you help feed, be sure to check the Feed Schedule!
Gypsy- She is doing well- I dressed her up in sport medicine boots and an English saddle and set up a jump for her to go over- she wasn’t very sure about the silly things I put on her feet, but seemed fine with the saddle, and was OK going over the jumps… if nothing else, it gave her something to think about. 🙂
Ella- Ella got her teeth done… she was VERY naughty for the vet, even after three shots! She would not hold her head still, even though she could barely stand. 🙁 The vet was very patient, but finally had to file her teeth down manually, which meant that she could not get all of the waves filed down, but she did the best she could given Ella’s attitude. 🙁 We are going to change Ella and Raphael’s diet this week, too- so check the Feed Schedule!
Raphael- Wouldn’t you know it, I call the vet out to look at Raphael’s knees, and that day he gets an infection in his hind leg? In any case, he’s been on antibiotics and bute since, and seems to be doing better- he is walking around much more, and seems to be in better spirits!
Sapphire- She was very good this week- we are going to actively start looking for a new home for her, so hopefully we find a very special person who is the right fit for her!
Nevada- He is doing great! We played with his back feet tonight, and we almost can hold them- if nothing else, he does pick them up and doesn’t seem frightened! Yay! He’s getting better about going on his walks, too! 😉
Tamahome- He’s cute. 🙂 ‘Nuff said.
Just to let you know, Nala (the mini horse) is looking for a new home- she will have a $500 adoption fee and must go to a good home who will want to work with her. She’s about 18 months old, and is a Falabella.
The Hanaeleh Halloween costume contest and BBQ is just a few weeks away! Be sure to sign up for a horsie to decorate! 🙂 People have been asking if they can bring their friends and relatives- I say, sure! Why not see the silly horsies? 🙂 The contest/BBQ will start at 11am and go to 1pm.
Have a great week!
