Hi Everybody!
Here’s the weekly horsie update… I know it’s Monday already- sorry!
1. Nevada had a bad spill in the round pen this week, but he seems to be fine, and went out for a nice long walk on Sunday with Robin! Al said he is doing better with his hind feet, too!
2. Tamahome is still cute. 🙂 He was helping Laura read her “Pampering Your Horse” book this Saturday… I think he was pointing out the chapter that discussed “treats.”
3. We gave Napoleon a week to settle in- and has he!! He is in love with BOTH Raphael AND Ella, and doesn’t want either of them to leave! He broke out in hives this past week so we put a fly sheet on him and have been giving him antihistamines, and they seem to be going away.
We rode him in the arena on Sunday, and he was very cute and did very well… I rode him on the street, too, and he did well. He screamed for Ella and Raphael for a few minutes, but that was about it. 🙂 I don’t think we’ll have much problem finding him a home- he’s just a cute little boy!
4. Raphael is getting stronger and we can trot him around a little more in the arena now… he likes to run around and has been bucking when at liberty now, so that shows he’s really feeling better. 🙂
5. Ella is looking good, but she has taken to finding new and interesting places to scrape herself- we put a fly sheet on her not because they are really bothering her, but in an attempt to try to protect her from hurting herself. She was having fun in the round pen this weekend, running and cantering around.
6. Reno is doing well and I’ve been riding him a bit in the arena- he seems to be doing well and really enjoys his new haircut!
7. I rode Gypsy in the arena for about a half-hour and then out on the street and she was just an angel! I think she’s actually the least spookiest horse at the ranch! She’s getting in her new coat, so you will be able to see her turn almost white over the next month or so. 🙂
8. Annie is getting better with the bridle and saddle- just a little at a time. Laura gave her a bath this weekend and she did very well- Judy gave her carrots to keep her happy.
9. Rio is also still cute.
10. Charley is doing amazingly! He has gained so much weight and his cuts have almost all healed! Nick and Ken put some more dirt in his stall and dragged up some mats so the front of his stall wouldn’t be so disgusting… they really deserve a lot of thanks! (THANK YOU!)
Remember to sign up for the Hanaeleh Halloween- your team should decide how to dress up your horse together! Sign-ups will be on the pod- just put your name under the horse you want to dress up. There will be prizes for scariest, funniest and best overall costume. People have asked if they should dress up with the horse too… I say, why not? You don’t have to, but if you want to, go for it!
Have a great week!
