Please contact your representative by WEDNESDAY and let them know you do NOT want horse slaughter plants back in the United States- we need everyone in Congress to know that we want to kill this bill.

Cong. Moran got an amendment into the above bill in subcommittee which defunds USDA inspections of horse slaughter plants which, in essence, will stop horse slaughter plants from reopening in the U.S. for FY12.

June 15th, the AG Appropriations Bill will go before the full House for approval. Please contact your House representative before Wed. with the following messages:

1. Oppose any efforts to strip the Moran amendment language (which defunds USDA inspections of horse slaughter plants) from the bill.

2. Oppose any amendment that would allow slaughter plants to hire their own inspectors (fee-for-service schemes). (This is one of the efforts that Sue Wallis, pro-horse slaughter, has been undertaking.)
